The Mount Union women's soccer team plays John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup Wednesday Oct. 16 at 4 pm in University Heights.

The Purple Raiders (10-2-1, 3-0-0 OAC), have won three-straight matches and are currently leading the conference overall, as well as, ranked No. 4 in the NSCAA Great Lakes Region rankings.
Sophomore Shannon Evans (Newbury/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) leads Mount Union and the OAC with eight goals and 19 points. She is followed by freshman Carolyn Balzano (Poland/Poland Seminary) who is in a three-way tie for second in goal scoring with seven and is ranked third having 16 points.
NSCAA National and OAC Player of the Week goalkeeper Maria Favorite (Chesterland/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) will lead the Raider defense between the pipes. Favorite tops the OAC with an .881 save percentage and 0.60 goal against average.
John Carroll (4-6-3, 1-2-0 OAC) snapped a three-game skid and scored its first OAC win with a 7-0 shutout of Marietta last Saturday. Nicki Bohrer had two goals in the win and leads the Blue Streaks with five on the season.
This is the 25th meeting between the schools with Mount Union holding a 13-9-2 lead in series but John Carroll has won the last four meetings including a 3-1 win in Alliance last year. The last Mount Union win in the series was a 2-1 victory in 2008 in Alliance.
Mount Union returns home Saturday, Oct. 19 at 1 pm to host Capital in the Kick Cancer fundraisder. The Crusaders are tied with the Raiders at No. 4 in this week's NSCAA Great Lakes Region rankings.
