Gameday Preview: Women's Soccer Hosts Muskingum Under the Lights Tuesday

Mount Union's women's soccer team tries to snap a two-game skid Tuesday at 7 pm in an Ohio Athletic Conference game against Muskingum at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders are 10-4-1 overall, and in a five-way tie for third place in the OAC with a 3-2-0 record.

Sophomore Shannon Evans (Newbury/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) leads Mount Union and the OAC with nine goals and 21 points. While junior keeper Maria Favorite (Chesterland/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) leads the OAC in goals-against average (0.72) and save percentage (.866).

Muskingum (8-5-2, 1-4-0) has lost four of their last five matches including a 3-0 loss to John Carroll last Saturday.

Junior Moriah Mathies leads the Fighting Muskies with seven goals, six assists and her 20 points is second-best in the OAC.

This is the 27th meeting between the two teams with Mount Union holding a 19-5-2 lead in the series. In last year's meeting the Raiders defeated the Muskies 3-0, in New Concord, as Evans had a goal and an assist in the victory.

Mount Union next plays Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 pm against Otterbein in an OAC matchup in Westerville.
