TOWNSON, Md. -- Mount Union junior defender Erika Druzina (Kirtland/Lake Catholic) was named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Druzina advances to the Academic All-America ballot.
Druzina, a Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience major with a 3.93 grade point average, was an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection a year ago.
On the field, Druzina has started all 18 games for the Purple Raiders and led a defense that has allowed the fewest goals in the conference so far this season.
Mount Union has set a school record for wins in a season and wraps up the regular season Saturday, Nov 2 at home against Heidelberg at 3:30 pm.
To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average. Academic All-District selections advance to the national Academic All-American ballot.
Sports Information Directors within a district vote for the Academic All-District teams with members of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee voting on the national ballot. District VII includes every NCAA Division III institutions in Indiana, Illinois and Ohio.
