UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio—Mount Union's women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to a school record tying seven games with a 4-1 win at John Carroll Wednesday afternoon.

The Purple Raiders have not been defeated since October 1 and the now seven-game unbeaten streak matches a 7-game stretch Mount Union had in its inaugural season of 1988.

The win also moved the Raiders record to 9-6-2 overall and at 5-1-2 in conference play still gives them a potential shot at one of the top two seeds and a bye to the semifinals in next week's Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament.

John Carroll's Bailey Fisher tallied the first goal of the game at the 17:15 mark to give the Blue Streaks a 1-0 lead.

The lead did not last long as less than one minute later, Mount Union sophomore Nicole Lanese (Macedonia/Nordonia) scored a goal off of a goalkeeper rebound and tied the game.

The game stayed tied through halftime and senior Carolyn Balzano (Poland/Poland Seminary) notched the Raiders second goal of the game in the 49th minute.

Mount Union pushed the lead to 3-1 just under four minutes later as senior Amy Bobonik (Medina/Medina) scored and Lanese finished the scoring with her second goal in the 82nd minute.

Lanese's two goals give her 19 on the season and her 40 points is second most in a single season by a Mount Union women's soccer player.

The Raiders wrap-up the regular season against Otterbein Saturday, Oct. 1 p.m. at Mount Union Stadiun. The senior class will be recognized prior to the start of the contest.
