Women's Soccer: Lanese Scores the Game Winning Goal in Overtime

ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's soccer team (6-2) defeated the Wooster Fighting Scots (4-3-2) by a final score of 2-1 in overtime.

The game-winning goal was scored in the 99th minute off the foot of junior Nicole Lanese (Macedonia/Nordonia), her 11th goal of the season. 

The scoring was started in the 29th minute on an unassisted goal from Wooster's Devin Frisby. To make the score 1-1 at halftime and through the second half, freshman Cortni Arp (Copley/Copley) scored her second goal of the season on a cross from Lanese. 

Senior Paige Freel (Niles/Niles McKinley) faced 19 shots with nine being on target in the win tonight. 

The Raiders open OAC play Saturday, September 30th at Ohio Northern at 5 p.m.
