Women's Soccer: Mount Union Loses On Golden Goal

ALLIANCE, Ohio-- Mount Union's women soccer team lost 2-1 in overtime against Baldwin Wallace in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday night.

Mount Union drops to 1-6-1 in the OAC and 5-9-2 overall while Baldwin Wallace improves in the conference standings to 3-4-1 and 10-8-1 overall.

Sophomore Sara Thomas (Barberton) put the ball in the lower left corner of the net to put the Purple Raiders up 1-0 in the 25th minute.

Baldwin Wallace responded in the second half with a goal in the 61st minute by Morgan Gray.

Both teams held each other scoreless the rest of the half and all the way up till 17 seconds left in the first overtime until Baldwin Wallace's Kenna Poptic hit the golden goal off a set piece.

Mount Union plays its final OAC regular season game against Ohio Northern on Saturday at 7 p.m. as it will be Senior Day for the Raiders as well.
