WOOSTER, Ohio - -Mount Union's women's swimming and diving finished day one of the Wooster Invitational in seventh place with 210.5 points, which was 18.5 points behind sixth place Ohio Northern (229) and 100.5 points ahead of eighth place Allegheny (110).
Junior Courtney Gabel (Freemont/Freemont Ross) had the highest finish in an individual event for the Raiders placing third in the 50 freestyle (24.19), which was her top time for that event this year.
The 200 free relay (1:52.11) for the Raiders placed third and had swimmers: freshman Alex Hamit (Massillon/Perry), Kristin Leitenberger (Madison/Perry), Rosa Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield), and senior Jocelyn Gaydos (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional).
The Raiders 400 freestyle relay (4:30.27) finished in fourth place and consisted of: Hamit, Leitenberger and seniors Katy Alkire (Akron/Firestone) and Elizabeth Juran (Independence/Independence) finished the finals in third place.
Day two of the invitational continues tomorrow with prelims starting at 10:00 a.m. and finals scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
