Women's Swimming and Diving Defeats Wilmington Saturday
ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Mount Union women's swimming and diving team defeated Wilmington 154-100 in an Ohio Athletic Conference meet Saturday afternoon at the Hammond Natatorium in Alliance.
Hamit took first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.29) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:19.06), while Swanson took first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.28), and 200-yard breaststroke (2:43.43).
Also taking first place was Lauren Lammlein (Uniontown/Hoover) who swam a 2:02.78 in the 200-yard freestyle, Annie Holy (North Royalton/North Royalton) who took first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:28.57, Wilma Levengood (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) in the 50-yard free (26.21), and Joan Dregalla (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls)
The Raiders took the 1,2,3 spots in the 100-yard freestyle; Shelbey Mitchell (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) taking first (55.98), followed by Kaitlyn Goldsmith (Galloway/Hilliard Bradley) (57.08) and Levengood (57.91).
In relay action, the 200-yard medley relay team of Hamit, Swanson, Levengood, and Goldsmith took first with a time of 1:57.68.
Mount Union (8-2) closes out conference swim against Ohio Northern next Friday, January 24 at 6 pm in Ada.
