Women's Swimming and Diving: Raiders Take Second Place in Day Two; Lautenschleger Breaks Another School Record

AKRON, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team moved up to second place after day two of the Ohio Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships Friday at the University of Akron.

Mount Union has a total of 499 points behind John Carroll in first with 525 points.

The Purple Raiders were again paced by Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) who one day after setting new OAC and school records in the 500 Free, tonight broke a school record in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.38.

Lautenschleger was also in on the winning 800 freestyle relay team with Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield), Megan Leibensperger (Uniontown/Green) and Rebecca Oblak (Strongsville/Strongsville) that placed first with a time of 7:49.92.

Last but not least Lautenschleger teamed with Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), Jessica Swanson (Uniontown/Lake) and Jenna Kassinger (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) to place third in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:49.14. 

Others getting All-OAC honors were Aldo with a second place finish in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:44.09, Alex Hamit (Massillon/Massillon Perry) with a third in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 49.28 and Sara Fountain (North/Ridgeville/Fairview) with a third in 3 meter diving 351.25 points.

The top three finishers in individual events and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC conference honors.

Competition continues Saturday, Feb. 20 with preliminaries at 10 am followed by the finals at 5:45 pm at the University of Akron.
