AKRON, Ohio -- The University of Mount Union won its second straight Ohio Athletic Conference women's team title at the 2016 OAC Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Akron.
The Purple Raiders tallied 792 total points to edge out second place John Carroll (766) by 26 points. Mount Union had 13 all-conference performances (top three individual and top two relay finishes) in winning its second overall title.
Sophomore Dana Lautenschleger (Solon/Solon) won OAC Women's Swimmer of the Year earning 94.5 total points for the Raiders and also earned five All-OAC honors.
Lautenschleger broke yet another school and OAC record in the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 17:12.83, 16 seconds better than the previous record.
She also won the 500 Free setting new conference school records and won the 200 Free setting a new school record.
Then she was on a pair of all-conference relay teams -- the first place 800 freestyle relay team with Rose Aldo (Mansfield, Mass./Mansfield), Megan Leibensperger (Uniontown/Green) and Rebecca Oblak (Strongsville/Strongsville) and a second place 400 freestyle relay team with Aldo, Ann Zielasko (Silver Lake/Archbishop Hoban) and Alex Hamit (Massillon/Massillon Perry).
Other all-conference performances came from Leibensperger was also second in both the 500 and 1650 yard freestyle events, Aldo was second in the 400 IM and third in the 100 free, Hamit was third in the 100 backstroke, Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) was second in the 200 yard butterfly, Oblak was third in the 500 free while Sara Fountain (North Ridgeville / Fairview) took third in the 3 meter dive.
