AKRON, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team finished in second place with 712.5 points in the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships after the final day of competition in the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.
Edging out the Raiders for first was John Carroll (885) while trailing the Raiders was Baldwin Wallace (562), Ohio Northern (561.5) and Wilmington (265) rounded out the OAC standings.
Senior Dana Lautenschleger (Solon) was named the OAC Swimmer of the Year for the third consecutive year after she scored 60 points with three individual first place finishes.
On the final day, Lautenschleger won the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:02.29. That win marked the first time in OAC history that a women won the championship in all four years of competition.
Junior Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick) earned a new school record in her first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:05.79.
In the 200-yard butterfly, senior Jessica Hirsh (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) earned All-OAC honors with a second place finish with a time of 2:11.71. Also placing second was junior Regina Saxon (Hudson) in the 200-yard breaststroke. Saxon finished with a time of 2:25.25.
In the 1650-yard freestyle, Megan Leibensperger (Uniontown/Green) placed third with a time of 18:27.32.
Freshman diver Sarah Hrycyk (Masillon/Jackson) earned All-OAC honors with a third place finish with a score of 304.40.
The top three finishers in individual events and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC conference honors.
Lautenschleger had NCAA B-Cut times in the 500 and 1650 yard freestyle. In order to qualify for the NCAA, her times have to be in the top 16 nationally in those events.
