Swimming and Diving: Mount Union Named CSCAA Scholar All-America Team; Lautenschleger & Ellsworth Earn Individual Honors

NORFOLK, Va. -- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team has been named a Scholar All-America Team by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

The Purple Raiders had a team cumulative grade point average of 3.54 and had the highest GPA among the three Ohio Athletic Conference programs to make the list (John Carroll, 3.35 and Ohio Northern 3.02).

Two Purple Raiders also earned CSCAA Scholar All-America awards in senior Dana Lautenschleger (Solon) and sophomore Cole Ellsworth (Temperance, Mich. / Bedford).

Lautenschlager has been a three-time Scholar All-America selection, a two-time All-American, a three-time Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Swimmer of the Year who won four-straight 500 and 1650 Freestyle titles with three 200 Freestyle titles. She recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in Nursing with a 3.59 grade point average.

Ellsworth won Ohio Athletic Conference titles in the 500 and 1650 Freestyle events and along with a second in the 400 IM was a three-time All-OAC selection. Out of the pool, he has a 3.54 grade point average as a Biology major.

The CSCAA recognizes students that have achieved a GPA of 3.50 and competed at an NCAA Championship event or achieved at least a "B" time standard.
