Women's Swimming and Diving: Mount Union Defeats Hiram

HIRAM-Ohio -- Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team defeated Hiram 157-64 for their second victory of the 2018-19 season. 

Leading the way for the Purple Raiders was freshman Lindsey Collins (Uniontown/Massillon Jackson), who won the 50-meter breaststroke and the 100-meter backstroke. Collins was also a member of the 200-meter freestyle relay consisting of senior Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick), fellow classmates McKenna Bishop (Hartville/Lake) and Kaitlyn DeWitt (Hudson) who recorded a time of 1:59.81. 

Also collecting first place finishes were seniors Sarah Gonda (Boardman) and Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick), sophomores Lauren Stajcar (Strongsville) and Bella Wagner (Mantua/Crestwood) and freshmen Kaitlyn DeWitt (Hudson), Aurelia Incristi (Rockwall, Tex./Rockwall), Erika Drager (Berea/Berea-Midpark) and McKenna Bishop (Hartville/Lake). 

Gonda and Oktavec collected victories in 50-meter backstroke and 50-meter freestyle while sophomores Stajcar and Wagner collected wins in the 100-meter freestyle and 1-meter diving events. 

The four freshmen recorded first in 800-meter freestyle, 200-meter freestyle, 100-meter butterfly and 100-meter breaststroke. 

Mount Union travels to New Wilmington, Pa. on Friday, October 26 to participate in the Westminster (Pa.) Relays at 6 p.m.
