Women's Swimming and Diving: Raiders Defeat Oberlin for Second Straight Victory

OBERLIN, Ohio--Mount Union's women's swimming and diving squad defeated Oberlin College by a score of 150-76 in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at Carr Pool.

Leading the way for the Purple Raiders on the day was freshman Aurelia Incristi (Rockwall, Tex./Rockwall) who won two events on the afternoon. Incristi finished first in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle. 

Mount Union collected wins from freshman Erika Drager (Berea/Berea-Midpark) who won in the 50-yard freestyle. Drager was also a swimmer in the 200-yard medley relay that collected the first Purple Raider victory of the meet with swimmers senior Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick) and sophomores Lauren Stajcar (Strongsville) and junior Elise Pichola (Rocky River). 

Drager and Pichola also won in the 200-yard freestyle relay alongside sophomore Maggie Gyurke (Bellevue/St. Mary Central Catholic) and freshman Kaitlyn DeWitt (Hudson). 

Additional victories came from Sophomore Sarah Hrycyk (Massillon/Jackson) 1-meter diving competition and freshman Callie Landry (Broussard, La./Teurlings Catholic) in the 1650-yard freestyle.

Gyurke and Stajcar both had individual victories in the 100-yard butterfly (1:03.41) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.07) respectively. 

Oktavec won in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.97.

Mount Union's swimming and diving team will be back in action November 29 through December 1 at the Wooster Invitational.
