Women's Swimming and Diving: Raiders Shine against Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio--Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team defeated Wilmington 145-107 Friday evening in Ohio Athletic Conference action. 

Leading the way for the Purple Raiders was senior Lauren Oktavec (Brunswick) who collected two individual first-place finishes in the 200-meter butterfly and 100-meter freestyle.

Additional victories came from freshmen Kaitlyn DeWitt (Hudson), Lindsey Collins (Uniontown/Massillon Jackson) and Aurelia Incristi (Rockwall) in the 800-meter freestyle, 200-meter breaststroke and 100-meter breaststroke respectively. Junior Elise Pichola (Rocky River) collected a time of 29.84 in the 50-meter freestyle.

Collins was also a member of the 200-meter relay squad that clocked a winning time of 2:17.78 consisting of swimmers freshman McKenna Bishop (Hartville/Lake) and sophomores Maggie Gyurke (Bellevue/St. Mary Central Catholic) and Lauren Stajcar (Strongsville). 

Bishop also collected a first-place time of 5:00.03 in the 400-meter freestyle.

Mount Union returns home to face Wooster on Saturday, Jan. 26 with a start time set for 1 p.m. in Hammond Natatorium.
