Women's Swimming and Diving: Raiders Sit in Second after Day One of OAC Championship

OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio--Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team holds second place with a score of 179 after day one of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships from the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

Leading the way for the Purple Raiders was freshman Lindsey Collins (Uniontown/Massillon Jackson) who came away with individual All-OAC honors in the 50-yard freestyle with a second-place time of 24.69.

The 400-yard medley relay team collected OAC honors with a time of 3:59.34 with swimmers seniors Sarah Gonda (Boardman) and Regina Saxon (Hudson), sophomore Maggie Gyurke (Bellevue/St. Mary Central Catholic) and freshman Aurelia Incristi (Rockwall, Tex./Rockwall).

Incristi and Collins were also members of the 200-yard relay squad who took third alongside freshman Erika Drager (Berea / Berea-Midpark) and junior Elise Pichola (Rocky River). 

The top three finishers in individual events and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC conference honors.

Competition continues Friday, Feb. 15 with preliminaries at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m. at the University of Akron.
