Women's Swimming and Diving: Raiders Take Second after Day Two of OAC Championships

OAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio--Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team stands in second with a score of 485 after the second day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships from the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of the University of Akron.

Six different Purple Raiders collected All-OAC honors in individual events as seniors Gina Saxon (Hudson) and Sarah Gonda (Boardman) tallied second in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke respectively.

Freshman Aurelia Incristi (Rockwall, Tex./Rockwall) placed third in the 200-yard freestyle while sophomore Maggie Gyurke (Bellevue/St. Mary Central Catholic) a recorded time of 59.64 in the 100-yard butterfly.

The freshmen 800-yard freestyle relay team of Erika Drager (Berea / Berea-Midpark), Callie Landry (Broussard, La./Teurlings Catholic), Kaitlyn DeWitt (Hudson) and Incristi collected third with a time of 8:00.83.

In diving events, sophomore Sarah Hrycyk (Massillon/Jackson) took first with a score of 360.80 while junior Bella Wagner (Mantua / Crestwood) came in just behind Hrycyk with a 308.70 total score.  

The top three finishers in individual events and the top two relay teams in each event earn All-OAC conference honors.

Competition concludes Saturday, Feb. 16 with preliminaries at 10 a.m. followed by the finals at 6 p.m. at the University of Akron.
