ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's women's swimming and diving team defeated Hiram 130-41 for their first win of the season.
The Purple Raiders (1-1) took first place in nine events and recorded the fastest times in two others.
Leading the way was sophomore duo Callie Landry (Broussard, La. / Teurlings Catholic) and Lindsey Collins (Uniontown / Massillon Jackson). Landry grabbed two first place finishes in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly, while Collins took first in the 50 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Also finishing in first place for Mount Union was freshman Alexis Schuller (Berea / Berea-Midpark), sophomore McKenna Bishop (Hartville / Lake), and freshman Emily Costanzo (Milford, Mich. / Milford).
Receiving first in the one meter dive was junior Sarah Hrycyk (Massillon / Jackson).
The 200 freestyle relay team of Schuller, sophomore Kaitlyn DeWitt (Hudson), freshman Grace Bjordahl (Yucaipa, Calif. / River Springs), and sohomore Aurelia Incristi (Rockwall, Tex. / Rockwall) earned the fastest time of the meet. Junior Maggie Gyurke (Bellevue / St. Mary Central Catholic) also recorded the fastest time in the 500 freestyle.
The Raiders return to the pool Saturday, Oct. 26 as they host St. Vincent (Pa.) at 1 p.m.
