Mount Union's women's tennis team begins its spring portion of its schedule Thursday when it faces Grove City (Pa.) in the Peterson Fieldhouse at 4:00 p.m.
The Purple Raiders played three matches in the fall where they had a record of 1-2 with the victory over Wooster (9-0) and the two losses coming at Saint Vincent (Pa.) (7-2) and at Case Western Reserve (8-1).
In the singles matches, the Raiders had a record of 9-9 and were led by senior Courtney Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia), sophomore MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) and freshman Megan Reichert (Ashtabula/Lakeside) who each had two wins.
Adamsky recorded both of her wins in the No. 5 singles position, Jenkins record both of her wins in the No. 4 position and Reichert had both of her wins out of the No. 2 position.
In the doubles matches, the Raiders had a combined record of 3-6 and were led by pairings of Arvidson and sophomore Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) who had a record of 1-0 out of the No. 1 position, junior Megan Czuchra (Mantua/Crestwood) and Jenkins had a record of 1-2 and their win came from the No. 2 position and Adamsky and sophomore Taylor Dowling (Canton/Massillon Jackson) had a record of 1-1 with their win coming out of the No. 3 doubles position.
Grove City enters Thursday's match with an 8-3 record and is currently on a five-match win streak.
Last season, Mount Union had a record of 13-7 and earned the fourth seed in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament. They defeated the number five seed Baldwin Wallace in the quarterfinals but fell to the number one seed Ohio Northern in the semi-finals.
Mount Union heads down south for its annual Spring Break trip March 10-15 where they will play five matches before returning to Alliance where they will host Muskingum for its first OAC matchup March 23 at 1:00 p.m.
