Women's Tennis Defeats Fairleigh Dickinson In First Match Of Spring Trip
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - - Mount Union's women's tennis team shutout Fairleigh Dickinson (N.J.) 9-0 Sunday afternoon in the first of five matches on its spring trip.
With the win, Mount Union improves to 3-2 overall while Fairleigh Dickinson falls to 0-4.
The Purple Raiders dominated the singles matches as they shutout the Devils in four of the six matches,as sophomore Mandy Wise defeated Jenna Cowie 6-0,6-0 in the no 2 position, senior Courtney Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) defeated Kim Martin 6-0 6-0 in the no. 4 position, freshman Megan Reichert (Ashtabula/Lakeside) defeated Lindsey Martin 6-0, 6-0 in the no. 5 position and junior Lauren Olivier (Chagrin Falls/Walsh Jesuit) rounded out the singles matches with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Jen Epstein in the no. 6 position.
In the doubles matches the Raiders shut the Devils out in all three matches 8-0.
Mount Union's next match will be Monday against Lake Forest (Ill.) with the match scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
