Women's Tennis Defeats Juniata
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - - Mount Union's women's tennis team defeated Juniata (Pa.) 6-3 in a non-conference tennis match Wednesday afternoon in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
With the victory, Mount Union improves to 5-2 overall while Juniata falls to 5-1.
The Purple Raiders won three of the six singles matches and all three doubles matches.
Junior Megan Czuchra (Mantua/Crestwood) and sophomores MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) and Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) all recorded two victories on the afternoon.
Czuchra defeated Jacklyn Renninger 6-3, 6-2 in the no. 3 singles position and was paired with senior Courtney Adamsky (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia) as they defeated Mitsuki Koh and Tori Gray 8-1 in the no. 2 doubles position.
Jenkins and Wise each won their singles match and were paired with each other in the no. 1 doubles match as they defeated Heather Waring and Megan Phillips 9-8. Jenkins won her singles match over Warring 6-2, 6-1 in the no. 1 position while Wise defeated Phillips 7-5, 6-1 in the no. 2 singles position.
Mount Union returns to the court tomorrow when they face Edgewood (Wis.) at 11:30 a.m.
