
ALLIANCE, Ohio - - Mount Union's women's tennis team defeated John Carroll 6-3 in an Ohio Athletic Conference match Tuesday afternoon at the Whitehill Tennis Courts in Alliance, Ohio.
With the victory, Mount Union improves to 10-4 on the season and 4-1 in the OAC, while John Carroll falls to 3-8 overall and 2-3 in the conference.
The Purple Raiders won four singles matches and two doubles matches on the afternoon.
Junior Lauren Olivier (Chagrin Falls/Walsh Jesuit) and sophomore Mandy Wise (North Canton/Hoover) both recorded two victories in the match.
Olivier defeated Emily Gorndt 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the no. 6 singles match and was paired with junior Megan Czuchra (Mantua/Crestwood) as they defeated Anna Stein and Tracy Gibson 8-4 in the no. 2 doubles match.
Wise defeated Anna Stein 6-0, 6-3 in the no. 2 singles match and was paired with sophomore Taylor Dowling (Canton/Massillon Jackson) as they defeated Erin Davies and Hannah Baumwell 8-6 in the no. 3 doubles match.
Sophomore MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) picked up her team-leading eighth singles victory of the season as she defeated Catherine Engel 6-4, 6-4 in the no. 1 singles match.
Mount Union returns to action Saturday when it hosts Ohio Northern at 1:00 p.m.
