Women’s Tennis Shuts Out Marietta In Final Road Match Of Regular Season
MARIETTA, Ohio - - Mount Union's women's tennis team shutout Marietta 9-0 in its final regular season Ohio Athletic Conference road match Tuesday afternoon.
With the victory, Mount Union improves to 13-5 overall and 7-2 in the OAC, while Marietta falls to 2-12 overall and 2-6 in league play.
With the win against Marietta, the Purple Raiders will be no worse than the three seed and will host a quarterfinal match in next week's OAC tournament at a date and time to be announced.
MacKenzie Jenkins (North Hampton/Northwestern) improved her singles record to 13-4 as she defeated Cate Gisser 6-1, 6-2 in the no. 1 singles match.
Jenkins also won her doubles match as she was paired with Megan Reichert (Ashtabula/Lakeside) as they defeated Gisser and Alex Seals 8-2 in the no. 1 doubles match.
Reichert clinched the match for the Raiders with the team's fifth point as she defeated Seals 6-1, 6-1 in the no. 5 singles match.
Mount Union's next match will be in next week's OAC tournament.
