TEMPE, Ariz. - Mount Union's women's tennis team was one of 720 teams and five Purple Raiders were honored by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as a 2017 All-Academic Team and Scholar-Athletes.
To qualify for the the team award, the program must have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above according to a 4.00 scale. To receive individual recognition, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Senior Alix Stein (New Philadelphia/New Philadelphia), Junior Kayla Johnston (Ashtabula/Lakeside) and Sophomores Ashley Gran (Ashtabula/Lakeside), Gretchen Groves (Lousiville/Lousiville) and Megan Marsh (Marysville/Marysville) were five of the women individually recognized in Division III by the ITA.
The team finished their 2016-17 season with a record of 12-6 and was the #3 seed in the OAC Tournament.
