Women's Track and Field Places Sixth at Wheeling Jesuit Invite
(WHEELING, WV)--Mount Union senior Rachel Perry
(Westerville/Westerville North) won the 3,000 meter steeplechase to
help lead the Purple Raiders to a sixth place finish at the Bill
Horne/Wheeling Jesuit Invite in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Mount Union tallied 73 points which left them just 0.5 points
behind fifth place Roberts Wesleyan (NY) and seven points shy of
fourth place Notre Dame (OH). Malone won the 17 team event
with 121.7 points and the Purple Raiders were the highest NCAA
Division III finisher.
Along Perry, fellow senior Aubrey Loy (North Canton/Massillon
Jackson) was second in the long jump (17-1.9) and third in the
triple jump (34-11.64) and 100 meters (13.12).
Sophomore Aubree Jones (Falconer, NY/Falconer) placed third in the
discus (125-11.4) as another headline performance for the Purple
Raiders.
Mount Union will next be in action Saturday, April 3 at OAC Gold
Meet in Marietta, Ohio.
