AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union junior Mary Mahoney (Ashtabula/St. John-St. Paul) was named Ohio Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week.
Mahoney won both the 200 (26.52) and 400 meters (56.88) at the Mount Union Jim Wuske Invitational this past weekend.
Her time in the 400 was the fourth fastest time in all of NCAA Division III so far this season.
The 400 has been a signature event for Mahoney outdoors in her career as she was the Ohio Athletic Conferene Sprint Athlete of the Meet at the 2011 OAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships as she won the 400 in an OAC-record time of 56.10, the 200 meter dash, ran the second leg of the winning 4x100 meter relay and was the anchor on the winning 4x400 meter relay team.
She also was an All-American with a third place finish in the 400 meters at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Off the track she has a 3.95 grade point average with a major in Evironmental Science.
