Mahoney was the OAC Sprint Athlete of the Meet at both the OAC's Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championship meets. She was also named Great Lakes Region Sprint Athlete of the Year in both indoor and outdoor track by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
At the OAC Indoor Championships, she won three individual events in the 60 meter dash (7.81), 200 meters (25.12) and 400 meters (56.73) and also helped the team win the 4x200 and 4x400 relays. Her 400 meter time of 56.73 was a new OAC meet record.
At the OAC Outdoor Championships, she defended her titles in both the 200 (24.53), 400 meters (56.89) and was on the winning 4x100 meter relay team.
At the NCAA Indoor Track Championships this past year, she was an All-American in two events -- placing second in the 400 meters and fourth in the 4x400 meter relay.
This week she will run in four events at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships.
Off the track, she has a 3.96 grade point average as an Environmental Science major and was an Academic All-OAC, Academic All-District and Academic All-American a year ago.
Mazzaferri set a new OAC Indoor Championship record in winning the 500 meter dash with a time 1:16.86 and was also on winning 4x400 relay team.
At the NCAA Indoor Championships, she was an All-American in two events with a fourth place finish in the 4x400 meter relay and a sixth place finish in the 800 meters.
She won the 800 meters and was on the winning 4x400 meter relay team at the OAC Outdoor Championships and will run in the 4x400 relay at the this week's NCAA Championships.
With a double major in English and Education, she has a 3.96 grade point average.
The duo helped lead Mount Union to a sweep of both OAC Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field titles.
