Women's Track & Field No. 12 in the Nation in USTFCCCA Preseason Poll

Mount Union's women's indoor track and field team is ranked No. 12 in the nation in United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) Preseason Poll.

The Purple Raiders won the Ohio Athletic Conference championship and finished seventh at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

Three All-Americans are back to lead Mount Union.

Senior Mary Mahoney (Ashtabula/St. John-St. Paul) was the OAC's Sprint Athlete of the Meet at last year's conference championship and went on to finish second in the nation.

Junior Emily Mazzaferri (Canton/GlenOak) finished sixth in the nation in the 800 meters a year ago.

The duo along with senior Daryn Herman (Fairview Park/Fairview) were all part of a 4x400 meter relay team that was fourth in the nation.

Mount Union competes next Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Spire Inviational at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
