
WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- Mount Union senior Mary Mahoney (Ashtabula/St. John-St. Paul) was part of three meet records to help lead the Purple Raiders to All-Ohio Indoor Track & Field Championship for a second straight year.
Mahoney set meet records in winning both the 60 meter dash (7.79) and 200 meters (25.18) then she teamed with senior Daryn Herman (Fairview Park/Fairview), junior Emily Mazzaferri (Canton/GlenOak) and sophomore Courtney Reese (Cleveland/Cornerstone Christian) to set another meet record in winning the 4x400 relay (3:58.33).
Mahoney was also part of another event win as she ran a leg of the first place 4x200 relay with junior Lisa Brasdovich (Columbia Station/Columbia), sophomore Taylor Coghlan (Twinsburg/Twinsburg) and freshman Veronica Clutter (Geneva/Geneva).
Reese and Mazzaferri also had second place finishes in the 400 meters (59.21) and 800 meters (2:20.31) respectively.
Junior Caitlin Goggin (Mantua/Crestwood) took second in the 5,000 meters (18:36.42) while sophomore Brooke Benner (Orrville/Orrville) was third in the 1 mile run (5:11.19) and sophomore Carly Stock (Cuyahoga Heights/Cuyahoga Heights) was third in the shot put (40-6.75) as the other top performances.
Mount Union scored 110.5 points which was 13.5 points ahead of second place Ohio Wesleyan.
The Raiders compete next week at the Kent State Tune-Up.
