The No. 19 ranked Mount Union women's indoor track and field team looks to win its second straight and third overall Ohio Athletic Conference Championship this weekend at Ohio Northern University in Ada.

Leading the way will be All-American senior sprinter Mary Mahoney (Ashtabula/St. John-St. Paul). Mahoney was the OAC Sprint Athlete of the Meet a year ago as she won conference titles in the 60, 200 and 400 meter events.  This year she is the top ranked runner in all those events and the 500 meters.

She was also part of the 2012 champion 4x200 and 4x400 meter relay teams which also enter this year's event as the top seeded relay teams.

Mahoney is on the 4x200 team with juniors Taylor Ruffing (Attica/Seneca East) and Lisa Brasdovich (Columbia Station/Columbia) and freshman Veronica Clutter (Geneva/Geneva).

The 4x400 team includes Mahoney, fellow senior Daryn Herman (Fairview Park/Fairview), sophomore Courtney Reese (Cleveland/Cornerstone Christian) and junior Emily Mazzaferri (Canton/GlenOak).

Mazzaferri is the top seed in the 800 meters.  She is the defending conference champion and record holder in the 500 meters who is seeded third in the event behind teammates Mahoney and Reese.

Sophomore Brooke Benner (Orrville/Orrville) finished third and claimed all-conference honors a year ago in the 1-mile run comes in this year as the third seed.  Benner is also seeded second in the 1000 meters and fourth in the 3000 meters.

The top three performers in every event are all-conference.

The other high seeded Purple Raiders are sophomore Carly Stock (Cuyahoga Heights/Cuyahoga Heights), who is second in the shot put and third in the weight throw, junior Julianne Liberati (Pittsburgh, Pa./Trinity Christian) in the triple jump, Ruffing is second in the 60 meter hurdles and Clutter is third in the long jump.

The event begins Friday, Feb. 22 at noon and continues through Saturday Feb. 23.
