Women's Track & Field: Home Sweet Home For Johnson at Wuske Invite

ALLIANCE, Ohio --Running in her hometown on her home track, freshman Daijana Johnson (Alliance/Alliance) won the 60 meter dash and placed third in the long jump to headline the Mount Union women's track & field team Saturday at the Wuske Invitational in Peterson Fieldhouse.

Johnson ran a season-best time of 7.83 in the 60 meter dash which is currently eighth best in the nation in NCAA Division III this season.

She then placed third in the long jump with a mark of 17-feet, 0.25-inches, which was behind her teammate Dana Crofoot (Perry/Perry), who won the event with a mark of 17-8.75.

The Purple Raiders also went 1-2 in the 200 meters as Marisa Rinaldi (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) won the event (25.99) followed by Rachel Adams (Louisville/St. Thomas Aquinas) with a time of 26.45.

Other top performances were second place finishes from Morgan Hambrick (Boardman/Boardman) in the high jump (5-1.75) and Hilary Reigle (Madison/Madison) in the 800 meters (2:25.12) along with a third place finish from Courtney Berish (Mantua/Crestwood) in the weight throw (49-4).

Mount Union competes next week at the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein University in Westerville.
