Women's Track & Field: Mount Union Fourth After First Day of OAC Championships

NEW CONCORD, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's track and field team stands in fourth place after the first day of the 2017 Ohio Athletic Conference Championships Friday at Muskingum University in New Concord.

Mount Union has 39 points which leaves them one point behind third place John Carroll. Ohio Northern leads the meet with 63 points followed by Otterbein in second with 56 points.

The top three finishes in each event earn all-conference honors.

Mount Union had three all-conference performances in the seven events finished on day one.

Junior Dana Crofoot (Perry/Perry) earned her 10th career all-conference performance as she placed second in the long jump with a mark of 17-feet, 11.5-inches.

Freshman Daijana Johnson (Alliance/Alliance) also had an all-conference mark in the long jump placing third with a mark of 17-feet, 6-inches.

The Purple Raiders also placed second in the 3200 meter relay from the team of juniors Rachel McGuire (Cleveland/St. Joseph Academy), Toni Beuck (Cleveland/Villa Angela-St. Joseph), Hilary Reigle (Madison/Madison) and freshman Sarah Mason (Alliance/Marlington).

In the preliminaries of running events, the Mount Union sprinters dominated the 100 and 200 meter races.

The Raiders claimed the top four spots in the 200 meters as freshman Rachael Adams (Louisville/St. Thomas Aquinas), Johnson, junior Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) and senior Marisa Rinaldi (Tallmadge/Tallmadge).

Johnson, Adams and Goedecke also grabbed the top three spots in the 100 meter dash and Rinaldi has the top spot in the 400 meters.

Freshman Devin Kring (Alliance/Louisville) also is second after qualifying in the 400 meter hurdles.

The meet finishes on Saturday.
