DELAWARE, Ohio -- Mount Union's track and field teams saved some its best for last as the Purple Raiders qualified for next week's NCAA Championships in four events Thursday at the Great Lakes Elite Meet at Selby Stadium in Delaware, Ohio.
The women's 4x400 meter relay team of junior Dana Crofoot (Perry/Perry), freshmen Sarah Mason (Alliance/Marlington) and Rachael Adams (Louisville/St. Thomas Aquinas) along with Marisa Rinaldi (Tallmadge/Tallmadge) qualified for the national meet with a season-best time of 3:50.00.
They join the women's 4x100 relay and both men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that have all qualified for next week's national championships.
Junior Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) ran a career-best time of 11.94 in the 100 meters to sit 11th in the nation in the event.
For the No. 8 ranked men's team, a pair of freshmen will compete next week as Matt Keim (Bolivar/Tusky Valley) in the pole vault (16-4.75) and Sean Sherman (Franklin/Bishop Fenwick) in the shot put (55-5) both put up the ninth best marks in the nation in their respective events.
Mount Union and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will both host next week's NCAA Division III Championships at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
