NORTH CANTON, Ohio -- Mount Union sophomore Rachael Adams (Louisville / St. Thomas Aquinas) ran a pair of top five provisional qualifying times for the NCAA Championships Friday at the Walsh Invitational at Walsh University.
Adams won the 100 meter dash with a career time of 12.12 which is currently the fifth best time nationally then she came back in the 200 meters and ran a season-best time of 24.62 to place third to stand fourth in the nation in NCAA Division III in the event.
Another top performer on the women's side was a second place finishes from freshman Alexianna Johnson (Dover) in the long jump (17-9.5).
On the men's side, top marks came from a pair of sophomores as Matt Keim (Bolivar / Tusky Valley) won the pole vault with a season-best mark of 16-feet, 8.25-inches that is third nationally and Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway), who ran his season-best time of 14.33 in the 110 meter hurdles which is second-best in NCAA Division III this season
Two other Purple Raiders - junior Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shady Side Academy) and senior Jalen McGill (Laurel, Md. / High Point) posted NCAA provisional marks in two events each. Berry ran the nation's 10th best time in the 100 meter dash at 10.76, McGill was 12th in the nation in the long jump with a mark of 22-9.75 and both of them combined with sophomore Darian Littlejohn (Fulton, Md. / Reservoir) and freshman Kendall Shadie (Akron / St. Vincent-St. Mary) ran a time of 42.05 in the 4x100 meter which stands 14th nationally.
Mount Union's distance runners will compete this weekend at the Bucknell Classic in Pennsylvania.
