Track and Field: Mount Union Posts Pair of NCAA Provisional Marks at Akron

AKRON, Ohio – Mount Union's women's track and field team posted a pair of provisional qualifying marks for the NCAA Championship at the Campbell/Wright Invitational Saturday at The University of Akron.

Freshman Alexianna Johnson (Dover) posted a season-best mark of 18-feet, 11.75-inches in the long jump which currently sits seventh in the nation in NCAA Division III so far this season.

The other provisional mark came from the 4x100 meter relay team of seniors Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls / Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Steph Donley (Carrollton) along with sophomores Daijana Johnson (Alliance) and Rachael Adams (Louisville / St. Thomas Aquinas) to post the nation's sixth-best time in the event at 47.36.

On the men's side, the No. 8 ranked Purple Raiders got three season-best performances from junior Lucas Cooper (Hanoverton / United Local) in the discus (158-5), sophomore Tanner Slack (New Concord / John Glenn) in the high jump (6-5) and the 4x100 meter relay team (41.96) of senior Josh Weber (Wadsworth), junior Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shady Side Academy) and freshmen Kendall Shadie (Akron / St. Vincent-St. Mary) and Malik Britt (Bossier City, La. / Airline).

Mount Union is scheduled to compete next week at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet at Baldwin Wallace in Berea.
