NEW ORLEANS -- Mount Union's women's track and field team along with six men and four women Purple Raider student-athletes earned academic awards from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The women's team was one of 185 NCAA Division III women's teams to earn All-Academic status with a team cummulative grade point average of at least 3.0 as the Raiders had a team g.p.a. of 3.32.
Four women and six men earned Scholar-Athlete Awards for having at least a 3.30 g.p.a. and competing in an NCAA championship event or being ranked in the top-50 nationally in an individual event.
The women included sophomore Sarah Mason (Alliance/Marlington), juniors Hilary Reigle (Madison) and Katie Durisin (Painesville/Riverside) and senior Katie Goedecke (Cuyahoga Falls/Akron-St. Vincent-St. Mary)
The men included freshman Evan Hersberger (Dalton), sophomore James Roth (Massillon/Perry), juniors Clark Etzler (Elida) and Louis Berry (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) and seniors Tyler Neff (Navarre/Fairless) and Adam Sopchak (Chardon).
