YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union's indoor track and field team had a school record and posted some impressive performances Friday at the YSU College Invite at the Watson & Tressel Training Site on the campus of Youngstown State University.
Senior Hilary Reigle (Madison) bested her own school record in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:06.73. She finished sixth in the event but was the top NCAA Division III finisher with a time that currently stands seventh in the nation.
Another strong performance came from freshman Bri Aveni (Geneva) who won the unseeded pole vault competition with a mark of 11-feet, 3.5-inches.
The Mount Union men's team, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division III, got an event win from AJ Digby (Tontogany / Otsego) in the 500 meters as he ran a time of 64.79 which was less than a second from besting his own school record in the event.
The Purple Raiders also had NCAA provisional marks in the 60 meter hurdles from junior Mason Plant (Shreve / Triway) and senior Connor Troyer (Sugarcreek / Garaway) along with senior Lucas Cooper (Hanoverton / United Local) in the shot put.
Plant placed third with a time of 8.01 which was just .01 away from his own school record in the event and is currently the top time in NCAA Division III while Troyer was right behind him in fourth at 8.16 that stands fifth nationally.
Cooper was sixth in the shot put with a mark of 51-feet, 11-inches which is sixth-best in NCAA Division III.
