Women's Track and Field: Mount Union Edged Out at All-Ohio Championships

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – For the second straight year, the Mount Union women's indoor track and field team was edged out for the team title at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday at Otterbein University in Westerville.

The Purple Raiders had won the event for seven years in a row before losing by only three points a year go to host Otterbein. This year the Cardinals scored a nine-point win 110-101 in the event. Mount Union was 15.5 points clear of third place Baldwin Wallace (85.5).

Alexianna Johnson (Dover) had a pair of podium finishes with season-bests as she placed second in the long jump at 17-feet, 11-inches and a third in the triple jump at 35-feet, 7.25-inches.

The Raiders had four more second place finishes from Hilary Reigle (Madison) in the mile run (5:07.65), Sabrina Stocker (Madison) in the 60-meter hurdles (9.12), the 4x200 meter relay team of Eva Rivera (Austintown), Mariah Eisenbraun (Lisbon / United Local), Hannah Kahn (Beachwood), Olivia Powers (Norwalk / St. Paul) (1:47.22) and the 4x200 meter relay team of Sarah Mason (Alliance / Marlington), Maryanna Cathey (New London), Michalena Terranova (North Jackson / Jackson-Milton) and Lindsay Thut (Aurora / Crestwood).

Mount Union also piled up four third place finishes from Mason in the 800 meters (2:18.40), Daijana Johnson (Alliance) in the long jump (17-5.25), Aamirah Howard (Akron / Woodridge) in the 60-meter hurdles (9.22) and Hannah Reigle (Madison) in the 5,000 meters (18:09.9) to round out the top performances.

Mount Union hosts the Raider Tune-Up next Saturday at Peterson Fieldhouse before the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 22-23 at Ohio Northern University in Ada.
