Women's Track and Field: Mount Union Picked Second in OAC Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches Poll

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's track and field team was picked to second by the conference's 10 head coaches in the OAC Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Coaches Poll.

Mount Union received three first place votes and tallied 76 total points which was four behind first place Otterbein as the Cardinals had the other seven first place votes and 80 total points.

The Purple Radiers placed second a year ago and headlining the returners in 2019 is sophomore Alexianna Johnson (Dover), who won the long jump and the triple while also being part of the conference winning 4x100 meter relay team on her way to OAC Field Athlete of the Meet honors.

The Raiders open the outdoor season Saturday, March 16 at the Mary Washington Opener in Fredricksburg, Virginia. Other highlights of the schedule include hosting the annual John Homon Open Friday and Saturday, April 5-6, the OAC Championships is on April 26-27 at Otterbein in Westerville while Mount Union along with the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission will host the NCAA Championships May 23-25 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
