ALLIANCE, Ohio – Senior Hilary Reigle (Madison) set a school record in the 1500 meters as the Mount Union's women's track and field team won three events at the John Homon Open Saturday at Mount Union Stadium.
Reigle won the 1500 meters with a time of 4:35.39 which is also a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships as it currently is the sixth best time nationally. It bested the old school record by over seven seconds (4:42.98) that Brooke Benner had in 2014.
The Purple Raiders other two wins came from senior Katie Durisin (Painesville / Riverside) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:34.51 and freshman Maryonna Cathey (New London) won the 400 meter hurdles at 1:05.30.
Mount Union also had four second place finishes from junior Daijana Johnson (Alliance) in the long jump (16-4.5), sophomores Alexianna Johnson (Dover) in the triple jump (33-6) and Sabrina Stocker (Madison) in the 100-meter hurdles (15.03) along with the 4x100 meter relay team (48.85) of freshmen Eva Rivera (Austintown / Austintown Fitch) and Olivia Powers (Nowalk / St. Paul) with sophomores Mariah Eisenbraun (Lisbon / United Local) and Cortni Arp (Copley).
Mount Union will compete next Saturday at the Walsh Invitational in North Canton, Ohio.
