Women's Track and Field: Raiders Selected Second in OAC Preseason Coaches Poll

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Mount Union's women's indoor track and field team was picked to finish second in the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Purple Raiders received 70 points and three first place votes behind John Carroll with seven first place votes and 79 points. Third place Otterbein (69 pts.), Ohio Northern and Baldwin Wallace tied for fourth with 55 points rounded out the top five.

The Purple Raiders return two conference champions in junior Alexianna Johnson (Dover) who won the long jump and senior Sarah Mason (Alliance / Marlington) who won the 500 meter dash.

Other all-conference returners, who placed in the top three in an event, include sophomore Bri Aveni (Geneva) in the pol vault and senior Daijana Johnson (Alliance) in the long jump and 60 meter dash.

Mount Union is back on the track January 17, 2019 at the Youngstown State Invite. The Raiders host both the Jim Wuske Invite (Feb. 8) and Raider Tune-Up (Feb. 22) before the OAC Championships Feb. 28-29 at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center in Marietta, Ohio.
