ALLIANCE, Ohio— Mount Union's women track and field team came away with seven first place finishes Saturday at the Raider Tune-Up Invitational in Alliance.
The Purple Raiders had two first place finishes in the field events with sophomores Bri Aveni (Geneva) winning pole vault with a height of 12-feet 2.75-inches and Kennady Gibbins (Navarre / Fairless) winning high jump with 5-feet 2.25-inches.
Mount Union picked up five victories in the running events with senior Katie Durisin (Painesville / Riverside) in the 1k with a time of 2:59.10, juniors Sabrina Stocker (Madison) in the 60-meter hurdles (9.19) and Hailey Miller (Louisville) in the 400 (1:01.83), freshman Megan Wertz (Canton / Glen Oak) in the 500 (1:19.48) and the women's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of senior Sarah Mason (Alliance / Marlington), Junior Cortni Arp (Copley), sophomore Lily Bogunovich (Alliance / Marlington) and freshman Micah Donley (Carrolton) with a time of 3:57.39.
Picking up second places were senior Daijana Johnson (Alliance) (8.08), junior Katherine Wilson (Findlay) in the 5k (20:25.40) and another women's 4x400 meter relay team of sophomore Olivia Powers (Norwalk / St. Paul) and freshmen Taylor Cupp (Geneva), Julia Henderson (Twinsburg) and Kenadee Wayt (Wheeling, W.Va. / Wheeling Central Catholic) in a time of 4:02.66.
Mount Union travels to Marietta, Ohio next Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and 29 to compete at the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships.
