Volleyball Sweeps a Pair to Run Streak to Four Straight

(WILMINGTON, OH)--Mount Union ran its win streak to four matches with 3-0 shutouts of Wilmington (25-12, 25-13, 25-10) and Rose-Hulman (IN) (25-18, 25-21, 25-22) Friday in Wilmington, Ohio.

All of the Purple Raiders win during this current four-match streak have been 3-0 and their overall record now stands at 17-3 overall. 

The win over Wilmington also counted as a conference win and raised Mount Union's mark to 4-1 in the conference.  Against the Quakers, freshman Deanna Glass (Medina/Medina) had a season-best eight kills, while setter Katie Kmieck (Lakewood/Lakewood) tallied 21 assists and junior libero Sarah Dean (Strongsville/Walsh Jesuit) posted 21 digs.

In the sweep of Rose-Hulman, Kmieck had 40 assists, Dean had 14 digs, senior Sarah Parker (Geneva/Geneva) had 10 kills, while fellow senior Melissa Mahnke (North Royalton/North Royalton) had 16 kills with a hitting percentage of .556 to lead the way.

Mahnke now has 1,499 career kills which leaves her just 18 shy of beating the school's all-time record of 1,516 held by Kelly Roach (1997-2000).

Mahnke will go the record on Saturday as Mount Union travels to New Wilmington, PA for a tri-match with Westminster (PA) and Thomas More (KY).
