Parker Named Academic All-District IV Volleyball

DELAWARE, Ohio--Mount Union senior Sarah Parker (Geneva/Geneva) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV Volleyball First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

As a first team selection, Parker will be placed on the Academic All-American ballot.

Parker has a team-best  .400 hitting percentage and 82 blocks as she has helped lead the Purple Raiders to a 22-5 record and a fourth-straight appearance in the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals against No. 3 seed Ohio Northern Friday at 5 pm at top-seeded Heidelberg College.

Off the court, Parker carries a 3.93 grade point average as a business administration major and is a member of the Mount Union Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

To be selected Academic All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with at least a 3.30 grade point average.  Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national Academic All-American ballot.  Sports Information Directors within a district vote for the Academic All-District teams with members of the CoSIDA Academic All-American committee voting on the national ballot.  District IV includes every NCAA Division II, III and NAIA institution in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama.
