Parker and Mahnke Named to AVCA All-American Volleyball Teams
LEXINGTON, Ky.—Mount Union seniors Melissa Mahnke (North Royalton/North Royalton) and Sarah Parker (Geneva/Geneva) were both named to the All-America honorable mention by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Both were All-OAC First Team selections earlier this season.
Mahnke, an All-American last season, is the first two-time All-American in school history and led the Purple Raiders in kills (3.37) and was second in digs (3.58). Mahnke also finished her career as the school's all-time leader in kills with 1,604.
Parker has a team-best .368 hitting percentage and also tops the squad in blocks with 86.
The pair also led Mount Union to a 23-7 record in 2009 with its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance and win in a 3-1 victory over Lebanon Valley (PA).
