Mahnke and Parker Named All-OAC Volleyball
(AUSTINTOWN, OH)—Mount Union seniors Melissa Mahnke (North Royalton/North Royalton) and Sarah Parker (Geneva/Geneva) have been named to the All-Ohio Athletic Conference First Team.
It marks just the third time in school history and first time since 1998 that two Purple Raiders have been on the All-OAC First Team in the same season.
Mahnke is a first team selection for a second consecutive season and was a second team pick in 2007. She has started all 28 matches this season and led the team and was second in the OAC in kills per game (3.38). The school's all-time kills leader with 1,578 kills she earned All-American honors a year ago.
Parker, a second team selection each of the last two seasons, started all 28 matches and was the team leader and second in the conference in hitting percentage at .382. She also leads the team and is among the conference leaders in blocks with 83.
Mahnke and Parker have led Mount Union to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in school history Thursday at 5:30 pm when they take on Lebanon Valley (PA) College at the Mid-Atlantic Regional at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA.
