ALLIANCE, Ohio--The University of Mount Union volleyball team is slated to play 30 matches in 2010, including seven contests at home. The season starts on Sept. 3-4 at the Midwest Classic, hosted by Michigan schools Calvin and Hope. The Purple Raiders will match up against both hosts as well as Thiel (Pa.) and Cornerstone.
Mount Union totals 14 road/neutral matched before its first home date. It will visit Malone on Sept. 7 and then compete against both Oberlin and Case Western on Sept. 10 at Case. The Purple Raiders then take on Westminster (Pa.) and Franciscan on Sept. 11 at Baldwin-Wallace.
A trip to Danville, Ky., will feature four matches on Sept. 17-18. In order, the Raiders will meet LaGrange (Ga.), host Centre, Maryville (Tenn.) and Hanover (Ind.).
Mount Union will open both its home and Ohio Athletic Conference schedules with a Sept. 25 home match against Wilmington at 1 p.m. Mount Union will also host non-conference foe Bethany (W. Va.) later that afternoon at 5.
The Purple Raiders will play 5 of 9 OAC contests at home including matches against Marietta (Sept. 29), John Carroll (Oct. 12), Baldwin-Wallace (Oct. 19) and Otterbein (Oct. 30).
Remaining non-conference tilts involve four contests at the Washington Bears Classic on Oct. 8-9 versus Webster (Mo.), host Washington (Mo.), Westminster (Mo.) and Dallas (Tex.); two matches on Oct. 16 against Fredonia State (N.Y.) and host Mt. St. Joseph; and one home meeting with Case Western.
