Purple Raiders Earn Road OAC Victory Over Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio—The Mount Union volleyball team earned a tough road victory over Muskingum Tuesday night. The Purple Raiders (21-6, 7-1) defeated the Fighting Muskies in four sets (25-13, 25-16, 22-25, 25-21) to maintain their hold on a share of second place in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Senior Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls), who was named OAC Player of the Week on Monday, had 44 assists for the Raiders to go along with nine digs and four kills.

Taylor Webb (Geneva/Geneva) finished with a career-high 19 kills and Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) added 12 kills to lead the Mount Union attack. Deanna Glass (Medina/Medina) had nine kills, followed by Melanie Patterson (Mentor/Lake Catholic) with seven kills.

Freshman Lauren Mastroine (Orrville/Orrville) recently made the switch to libero and led the team with 31 digs, one shy of her career-high. Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) and Allison Insana (Cleveland/Villa Angela-Saint Joseph) also turned in strong defensive performances. Gromes had 24 digs and Insana had 17 digs.

The Raiders return to action on Saturday in a showdown with Otterbein for the second seed in the OAC Tournament. Mount Union defeated Otterbein in four sets back in September at the Hiram Invitational. This will be the team's final regular season home match. Radigan will be recognized prior to the match for her accomplishments and contributions to the program throughout her career.
