Radigan Named Capital One Academic All-American

TOWSON, Md.—Mount Union senior setter Julie Radigan (Olmsted Falls/Olmsted Falls) has been selected to the 2011 Capital One Division III Academic All-America Second Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), becoming the first Purple Raider in program history to be so honored.

An intervention specialist major with a 3.93 grade point average, Radigan is one of just 18 student-athletes to earn Capital One Division III Academic All-America honors.

A team captain, Radigan led a young Purple Raider squad to a 25-8 record, which included the first Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championship in program history and the school's second ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, which ended in a second round loss to Juniata (Pa.).

Radigan averaged 10.11 assists per set to rank second in the OAC. She also had a team-best .303 hitting percentage in addition to averaging 1.14 kills per set and 2.14 digs per for the Purple Raiders.

Last month, Radigan became the fifth All-American in program history when she was announced as an American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Honorable Mention All-America selection. A two-time All-OAC First Team and three-time Academic All-OAC selection, Radigan was chosen as the OAC Scholar-Athlete-of-the Month for December.

Radigan finished her career with 3,753 assists, which is the second-most in school history. She was a member of the school's first squad to qualify for the NCAA Tournament in 2009, which also ended with a second round loss to Juniata. She helped the Raiders to a 93-34 record during her four-year career at Mount Union
