The Mount Union volleyball team beat John Carroll on the road Tuesday night in straight sets to capture its fourth Ohio Athletic Conference win of the season.
For the Purple Raiders, it was their third consecutive shutout of an OAC opponent.
Sophomore Nicole Snyder (Mentor/Lake Catholic) led Mount Union in kills with 13. Fellow sophomores Sarah Schleich (Westfield Center/Cloverleaf) and Brittany Woodard (Diamond/Southeast) posted 12 and 11 assists, respectively, while senior Kristen Gromes (Navarre/Fairless) finished the match with 10 digs. In addition, freshman Kara Berger (Mentor/Mentor) had five blocks for the Raiders.
With the three-set win (25-16, 25-14, 25-20), Mount Union improved to 17-5 overall and 4-0 in the OAC. Meanwhile, John Carroll fell to 10-14 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
The Purple Raiders fell two spots in the AVCA Coaches Poll that was released this afternoon but are still ranked 16th in the nation. Last week, their no. 14 ranking matched the highest mark in school history.
Mount Union returns home for the first time since Sept. 29 on Saturday to face Capital at 4 p.m. Live stats will be available for the match.
